All About the Austin Outhouse T-Shirt

From 1981 to 1995, the Austin Outhouse played host to an eclectic group of patrons — from college kids to bikers — at its location at 3510 Guadalupe. It was also the spot to catch an eclectic lineup of musicians, including Townes Van Zandt, Herman the German, Billy Joe Shaver, Pocket FishRmen, Ponty Bone & The Squeezetones, and Lucinda Williams. Legend has it that Williams, who would later win three Grammy awards, was chased off the stage by the heckling of a group of salty regulars who were more interested in watching football on the bar’s TV than listening to her performance.

The Outhouse is famously the venue where Blaze Foley recorded his album “Live at the Austin Outhouse” a month before his tragic shooting death in 1989. Blaze frequented (and was frequently kicked out of) the Outhouse as both a performer and customer. An auto glass repair shop now occupies the old Outhouse building.

Pay homage to an iconic piece of Austin history with the Austin Outhouse T-Shirt. Celebrating the eclectic vibe of the venue, this shirt is a perfect conversation starter for music lovers and fans of the local scene.

TexasGifts.com curators found Alvies' tribute to local culture and history commendable, making this t-shirt a unique addition to any wardrobe.
